Sergeant Major Keane R. Wodele was born in Minnesota. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 12 October 2004 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. After recruit training he attended Marine Combat Training at Marine Corps base Camp Pendleton, CA. Upon Completion of MCT, and Military Police School at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, he was assigned to MWSS-372 as a Military Policeman.
While assigned to MWSS-372 PFC Wodele was deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom from September 2005 to March 2006 as a machine gunner for an explosive ordnance disposal response team. PFC Wodele was promoted to the rank of lance corporal. Upon return from deployment LCpl Wodele was assigned to Camp Pendleton Provost Marshals Office with the Fleet Assistance Program as a patrolman. In November 2006 LCpl Wodele was promoted to the rank of corporal. Cpl Wodele again deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom from September 2007 to March 2008 as security detail NCOIC.
In May 2008, Cpl Wodele reported to the Provost Marshal's office, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA. While there, Cpl Wodele served as field training officer and patrol supervisor. In January 2011 Cpl Wodele was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
Sergeant Wodele was screened and selected to Presidential Helicopter Squadron (HMX-1) and in January 2011 reported for duty at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA. In the HMX-1 Security Department he served as sergeant of the guard, and platoon sergeant. Sgt Wodele served at the Executive Alert Facility and as Mission Security Officer on a vast number of missions in support of the President of the United States and the White House Military Office.
Sergeant Wodele was then assigned to the Current Operations Branch in Plans, Policies and Operations, (PP&O) Headquarters Marine Corps at the Pentagon. While assigned to PP&O Sgt Wodele served as a watch chief in the Marine Corps Operation Center. In December 2014 Sgt Wodele was promoted to the rank of staff sergeant.
In May 2016, SSgt Wodele reported to Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Bangor, WA where he served as platoon sergeant and platoon commander. In October 2018 Staff Sergeant Wodele was promoted to the rank of gunnery sergeant.
From June 2019 to July 2021, GySgt Wodele served as the company gunnery sergeant for Headquarters and Service Company, 3d Law Enforcement Battalion Okinawa, Japan. In July 2021, GySgt Wodele reported to Provost Marshal's office, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA. While there he served as watch commander and operations chief.
In January 2022, GySgt Wodele was promoted to the rank of first sergeant and was assigned to Company E, 2d Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Camp Pendleton, CA. 1stSgt Wodele deployed as company first sergeant for Company E, Battalion Landing Team 2/4 , 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). Company E participated in CARAT Timor Leste, Cobra Gold 2023, and Ssang Yong 2023 before returning to homeport in June of 2023.
In February 2024, 1stSgt Wodele was assigned to Infantry Training Battalion, SOI-W. He lead three separate companies of Marines through the Infantry Marine and Infantry Weapons Courses. 1stSgt Wodele was selected and frocked to sergeant major on 12 February 2026.
Sergeant Major Wodele is currently serving as the senior enlisted leader of Air Control Training Squadron, Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School, Twentynine Palms, CA.
Sergeant Major Wodele’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Fourth award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Third award).
